Up with the Lark

Join Rebecca from 7am on Sunday mornings when she talks about life-the-universe-and-everything, sends handwritten postcards to listeners and eases you into your day with laid back vibes, wonder and awe. We say it's food for the soul.

Rebecca is a true East Anglian. She was born in Harlow in Essex and she now lives right on the Essex / Suffolk border. She spends her time roaming the river paths of Suffolk on foot and working as a school leader – she is our resident, ultra-running headteacher extraordinaire!
Rebecca has been regularly recorded for podcasts or been featured on the radio or television over the past few years, primarily due to her work in education and as the author of the book, The School-Ready Governor. But she started stepping in as a stand-in at Suffolk Sound in around December 2024 and has never looked back.
Rebecca grew up on Simon and Garfunkel and Nick Drake, stalked the grungy corridors of the Britpop era in the 90s, and now enjoys being swept along by gorgeous electro-pop, folk and alternative-rock. She’s also pretty happy with anything, as long as it doesn’t have too much shouting.
She loves a niche interest and it brings her so much joy to delve into the specifics of something wonderful on air – be it crinkle-crankle walls, the difference between a marsh harrier and a red kite, or the right way to build a crisp sandwich.
You can join Rebecca from 7am on Sunday mornings when she talks about life-the-universe-and-everything, sends handwritten postcards to listeners and eases you into your day with laid back vibes, wonder and awe. We say it’s food for the soul.
ON THE SPOT
What’s your favourite childhood memory?
I have a very sticky brain. I remember everything. It’s chaos in there.
If you could see any artiste in concert, living or dead, who would it be?
Nick Drake is the right answer.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Wear out my trainers.
Starter and main course, or main course and dessert?
Two starters is plenty for me. I’m tiny.
Ant or Dec?
Let’s get ready to rumble…. 😆
