Suffolk Sound Your Station, Your Music, Your Voice
Apart from a few brief stints living just across the border, Leanda is proud to be a Suffolk native and lives in Ipswich with her daughter, Lily.
A love of music started at a very early age and though her roots are very firmly in rock and indie, Leanda’s playlists include everything from big band jazz and Northern Soul, to world music and 70’s disco. Through work and family, she has met many music legends, including Brian May, Rick Wakeman, Bernie Marsden, Elliot Randall, Graham Bonnet, Steve Harley, Suzi Quattro, John Dankworth, Cleo Lane and Dame Vera Lynn among others.
Leanda’s radio career began when she helped set up Rendlesham Community Radio and presented a Saturday morning show featuring her eclectic choice of music, chat and interviews with notable guests such as Thérèse Coffey, MP. As a big live music fan, her weekly live lounge promoted the best in Suffolk’s up-and-coming music talent.
Until recently, Leanda presented the Afternoon Show on GenX Radio Suffolk where her warmth and humour, accompanied by a lot of laughter, earned her the affection of many listeners and followers and now Leanda is overjoyed to join the Suffolk Sound family where you’ll be able to join her every Sunday morning from 10am
Leanda’s other lifelong passion is motorcycling. Riding since the age of 16, she’s an active member of Suffolk Advanced Motorcyclists and a qualified Master in Advanced Riding – the very first lady Master Rider in Suffolk. At weekends, she can usually be found on her BMW R1250RS riding the Suffolk roads – her natural habitat!
