INTRODUCING JAMES DOUGLAS-HAMILTON

My love and knowledge of blues, rock, folk rock music (reflected in the nearly 300 albums I have collected over the past 60 years), started at school in the mid ’60s, when I became a drummer in the school rock band, ‘The Depth. As with all these things at school, I quickly joined another couple of short lived outfits!

Quickly realising that I wasn’t Ginger Baker, I got a proper job which over the years, has happily taken me not only to Southend, Dover and Felixstowe (where I arrived in 1972), but also to Cyprus, Brussels and across many European cities. All of these places had, or were close to venues, which allowed me to feed my constant appetite for live music.

Over the years, I’ve seen some great band and artistes. Notably, The Who, Small Faces, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Derek and the Dominos, Tina Turner, Emerson Lake and Palmer, BB King, Beth Hart, Mike and the Mechanics…. the list goes on and on, and most recently The Eagles in Hyde Park in 2022.

My other great passion, other than music is sport and since moving to Felixstowe I’ve played rugby for Ipswich and Felixstowe, cricket and hockey for Felixstowe (and in Brussels!) and of course golf ay Felixstowe Golf Club where I’ve been a member since 1976!
