Emma Lightfoot

Background

Emma has lived in Ipswich since returning from university with degrees in zoology and animal behaviour. She has worked in many sectors over the intervening years, from pet behaviour counselling, to proof-reading magazines, managing employee wellbeing and development at her family haulage firm and writing business newsletters.

Emma is passionate about learning; she is a governor at a local state secondary school and completed her third degree in Psychology and Sociology at University of Suffolk and has recently started a PhD looking at how to support people after the loss or death of a pet.

Emma also runs Orwell Lady, a passenger boat that has operated from Ipswich waterfront since 2001 and is married to the man behind Ipswich’s Greyhound pub, so also knows a thing or two about hospitality, events and tourism. She is one of the founders of Ipswich Book Festival.
